Inner Beauty Collagen
Updated: Oct 5, 2022
Recently, I learned that one of the collagen brands I personally used (and was partnered with) was sold to Nestle.
Gut punch.
I don’t align myself with companies who don’t believe that clean drinking water is a basic fundamental human right. I immediately pulled my partnership with them and stopped my monthly auto ship of their products. This change of hands wasn’t announced (not even to brand partners who represent the company) openly which I find disheartening, even as a consumer. I do my best, as I’m sure you do too (you’re here after all!), whenever possible to buy from companies that are independent, not owned by mega corporations that create monopolies and feed into mass consumerism, while doing nothing to better the health of consumers, the environment and those not purchasing their products.
This is just one of the reasons I buy so many of my products from Young Living- I believe in their products, their business opportunity and their mission which extends far beyond simply producing products. There’s heart, soul and integrity (and action!) behind the company that I’m happy to support every month with my hard earned dollars.
Last month, Young Living released a product they’ve been working on for 4 years! Inner Beauty Collagen! In other markets (outside of North America), Young Living has been producing a liquid collagen that has done especially well in the Asian market, but Inner Beauty is new to us. I’ve been using collagen for around 10 years now so this got me really excited and I was looking forward to experiencing Inner Beauty for myself (before and after pictures below) to see how it would improve the appearance of my skin.

Inner Beauty IS a beauty specific product and it’s marketed in such a way, but there’s so many other benefits you get from collagen, which we’ll dive into in a moment.
For the first time in a long time, I’m starting to see a massive improvement in my skin, in just 11 days. The last 2 years, my husbands health scare, a pandemic wedding and moving have taken a toll on my body and my stress levels which has been evident through my skin- specifically around the lacklustre colour and under eye area which are showing the signs of disrupted sleep- yikes. I didn’t realize how downhill things had gotten until I saw some improvements. My before and afters are further down, but here are some which have blown my mind:
If you’re not familiar with collagen, I’m going to give you the important pieces of info so that if you decide to introduce Inner Beauty into your life you know how impactful it is, beyond the surface!
What is collagen?

Collagen is like glue for the skin, tendons, bones and connective tissues. There are many types of collagen but Type 1 collagen makes up 85-90% of collagen in your body.
Your skin is made of elastic, hyalauranic acid and collagen-these are the building blocks for healthy, youthful looking skin. As you age, you will see a dermal decrease in collagen until it reaches as low as 10-0%.
Other factors that affect the decrease of collagen include, stress, UV light, smoking, pollutants from your environment, over drinking, processed food and sugar, being inflamed, carrying excess weight and an overall poor diet that is low in whole, nutrient-rich foods; that’s the perfect storm for collagen destruction.
.
Protein and sugars create a process called glycation, and this is what results in an end product of waste in the skin that’s visible, leading to the appearance of crevices, blemishes and texture on the face.
Other factors that decrease collagen is a deficiency in vitamins B6, B7, the mineral zinc and vitamin C deficiency.
Can collagen be used topically?
You can’t add collagen to the skin topically and expect great results. You need to take it internally so that it can be digested, assimilated in the blood vessels and go directly to the skin.
Who can take it?
Everybody! There are no adverse side effects that have ever been reported. With Inner Beauty specifically, it’s a great addition for children who are selective eaters because it’s more than just collagen, we will discuss shortly.
Inner Beauty Collagen
Inner Beauty Collagen is sourced from a wide variety of fish. This ensures sustainable equilibrium in the ocean's ecosystem to ensure healthy fish populations remain in tact. Young Living sources sustainably, removes contaminants and like all of their products, tests for purity before the products go to market for consumption.
A Look at the Ingredients
Marine Peptides

Why marine peptides? Collagen peptides are made by breaking down whole collagen proteins into smaller pieces, this makes for an incredibly absorbable form of collagen that even those with digestive issues will benefit from.
Marine collagen is the richest in type 1 collagen, which your skin needs in abundance for a youthful appearance.
By adding antioxidants from plants into the Inner Beauty formula, there’s an increase in the thickness of your skin within 2 months. I noticed my skin looked more supple in just 11 days. My skin didn’t feel as thin, doesn’t look as dull or sunken in, it feels more hydrated and is much softer to the touch- check out my before and afters:
BEFORE (July 2nd):
AFTER (July 13th):
Ceramides are fatty acids from plants which is a secret in Japanese skincare, the gold standard in anti aging skin care.

Ceramides have a strong affinity for water and play a major role in the skin’s
barrier functions. These functions are important because they are what allow skin to retain moisture, protect itself from friction, and be resilient to external stress.
As you age you decrease these ceramides in the body and it turns out that peaches have 2 times the amount compared to other plants.
Adding peach ceramics increases hydration in the skin, giving it a supple feeling, while filling in fine lines.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an antioxidant. Its role is to act as a protectant from pollutants and UV.
Sufficient Vitamin C in the body activates collagen production in the skin, which helps accelerate the body’s own natural production of collagen.
Hyalauranic Acid (HA)
HA is a natural body lubricant. It decreases wrinkles, fine lines tightens the elastin (helps keep the skin taut) in the skin and gives you a youthful glow.
Biotin AKA B7
Vitamin B7 must be obtained from the diet, Your body can’t manufacture it.
A deficiency looks like brittle hair, hair that falls out, hair loss, thinning, brittle nails and dullness of the hair skin and nails.
Zinc Gluconate
Zinc is an immune supportive mineral, that aids in healthy skin cells and assists with collagen assimilation- collagen needs help!
Without sufficient zinc levels you won’t have vital cell growth, therefore you won’t have natural collagen formation in the body.
It’s common for people to be zinc deficient because we don’t obtain it in abundantly in our diets.
Tapioca Fibre

Tapioca fibre is added to serve as a prebiotic.
The skin is the barrier between the body and the environment-did you know the skin is the largest organ? In many ways, it’s your body’s first line of defence against pathogens and pollutants.
We need to be able to feed the good bacteria (probiotics) in order to have a strong internal defence system, and that’s the role of a prebiotic, its a fertilizer for the probiotics you’re getting from your diet or supplements.
This is called a functional product because adding fibre helps support a healthy gut wall, and healthy skin by balancing the gut microbiome.
Vanilla

Vanilla is 1 of the 3 most expensive spices in the world, but it has to be natural vanilla, not the synthetic form.
If it’s real, it’s loaded with skin protective antioxidants, called catechins these also help to regenerate tissues and organs. This helps to reduce appearance of fine lines.
The other benefit of vanilla is that it’s a potent anti-inflammatory compound, linked to longevity. Catechins have been touted as some of the most powerful disease fighting phytonutrients in the plant kingdom.
How to Use Inner Beauty
