All Natural DIY Tick Spray & Serum

Several years ago I was introduced to Lyme disease and co-infections that ticks carry and transmit to humans. I had recently moved into a new neighbourhood where I met my neighbour, who’s son had Lyme disease and several co-infections from a tick bite he got in early adolescence. His story is heart-breaking (but has a happy ending!) It’s a story that has not only impacted my life, but I’m sure thousands of others (his Mom is a fierce Lyme advocate) who’ve heard his experience living with undiagnosed Lyme for years before finally receiving a diagnosis. His story changed the way we explored nature.

At the time, we lived in a subdivision but backed onto a ravine with lush forests and a creek. There was no keeping my kids out of that space behind our home but I knew I had to be proactive and do everything I could to safe guard them.

Ticks live everywhere- if you can see birds and critters of any kind, you should assume ticks are nearby.

They’ve been found on sidewalks in neighbourhoods, on picnic benches, playground equipment, and anywhere an animal has travelled.

It’s important that we all take some precautions (on top of using a tick spray and serum) to avoid the devastating effects tick bites can have on the lives of those we love.

Three years ago I made a video on YouTube with a recipe I was using to make an all-natural tick spray, you can find the video here if you’re curious to see how I did it back then, but now I’ve streamlined the recipe and have changed a few things after further learning and research.

One of the biggest changes to my original recipe includes the use of fewer essential oils and simplifying the non-medicinal ingredients.

The recipes listed below can be doubled or tripled to accommodate the size of the glassware you have. Please note that the oils I use are exclusively from Young Living to ensure purity, maximum medicinal properties through appropriate first distillation practices, as well as being a safe choice for topical application. You can purchase your Young Living products through me by clicking here to gain access to free resources I offer including direct communication with me, a free app, private website and private education-based Facebook community. I only recommend using Young Living essential oils for topical use because of their distillation practices (ensuring maximum medicinal properties), Seed to Seal guarantee and quality control.

Tick Spray

In a 30ml glass amber spray bottle add:

30 drops of Geranium Essential Oil

30 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil

30 drops of Oregano Essential Oil

30 drops of Kunzea Essential Oil

Fill with 95% alcohol as an emulsifier. EverClear is a popular choice.

Tick Serum

In a 30ml glass amber dropper bottle add:

30 drops of Geranium Essential Oil

30 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil

30 drops of Oregano Essential Oil

30 drops of Kunzea Essential Oil

Fill with carrier oil of choice. I like using a jojoba oil.

You can easily double or triple this recipe by using larger glassware.
